What is cynar liqueur?

Cynar is an Italian herbal liqueur made from a blend of 13 different botanicals, including artichoke leaves, herbs, and plants. It has a slightly bitter taste with hints of caramel, citrus, and spices. Cynar is often enjoyed as an aperitif or digestif on its own, over ice, or mixed into cocktails. It is dark brown in color and has an alcohol content of 16.5-18%. Cynar was first introduced in 1952 and has since become a popular drink in Italy and around the world.
